Founder & CEO, Klutch Unscripted
I’m Kai Crutchfield — a former collegiate basketball player, broadcaster, analyst and the founder of Klutch Unscripted.
I spent five years playing basketball at NC State, competing in the ACC and being part of three ACC championship teams. My time as a player taught me much more than what happens between the lines. I learned about preparation, team chemistry, coaching, leadership, pressure and what it takes to compete at a high level. Now, I get to experience the game from a completely different perspective.
I’ve worked as a commentator and studio analyst for ESPN and the ACC Network and covered semipro men’s hoops with The Basketball League (TBL).
Klutch Unscripted is where I bring all of those experiences together. My goal is simple: to give you sports coverage that feels authentic, informed and personal — from someone who has actually lived the game.

For me, sports have never simply been something I watched. They've always been a part of my life. My father played in the NFL, while my mother competed a gymnast and volleyball player. My brother, Brandon Crutchfield, continues that tradition as a college football player.
I also grew up around uncles, godfathers and other family members who have played, coached and worked in sports.Being surrounded by athletes and people who understood competition gave me an appreciation for sports at an early age. It taught me that there's always more to the story than what shows up in the box score.
I've experienced the game as a player. I've studied it as an analyst. I've talked about it behind a microphone. And now, through Klutch Unscripted, I'm building a place where I can tell those stories in my own voice.
It's not just about what happened. It's about understanding why.
There is no shortage of sports content.
But I wanted to create something that felt different.
I wanted a place where I could talk about the game the way I actually talk about it — with personality, analysis, opinions and the perspective that comes from having been in the locker room and on the court myself.
Klutch Unscripted isn't just about reporting scores or repeating headlines. It's about the players, personalities, decisions, storylines and moments behind the game.Sometimes that's breaking down why a team is struggling defensively.
Sometimes it's highlighting a player who isn't getting enough attention.Sometimes it's talking to an athlete about their journey. And sometimes it's simply having an honest conversation about something happening in sports.
That's what Klutch Unscripted is about.
